According to the Waste Ordinance 2020:614, organizers of outdoor public events are required to offer visitors the opportunity to sort out packaging and waste that occurs on site. Hudiksvall Municipality has taken this requirement into account and implemented an innovative self-service solution using Rentalbuddy's booking system.

With Rentalbuddy's system, event organizers can easily book sorting bins and sorting furniture, and, if necessary, order the collection of waste such as food waste and residual waste. This allows events to be carried out in a sustainable and smooth way, even in places where permanent waste solutions are lacking.


“We want to make it easier for those who organize events to work more sustainably and to reduce littering,” says Sara Johansson, Operations Manager Technical Service. We already have several bookings for the containers for sorting.*

Here's how it works:

  1. Book online – Choose the type of sorting bin and indicate whether you need food and residual waste collection. Everything is booked via Rentalbuddy's platform.

  2. Retrieve Equipment – Get a code to the container where the equipment is stored. Use the code to retrieve the containers.

  3. Efficient sorting – The containers are clearly marked for different types of waste, such as plastic, glass, paper, and food waste.

  4. Easy return – When the event is over, the containers are cleaned and returned to the same location where they were picked up.


Food and waste collection

For events at locations without existing trash cans, the organizer can easily order trash collection when booking. This option costs 850 SEK per time and ensures that the waste is handled correctly. The municipality's waste department coordinates the collection and provides instructions on where the containers should be placed for emptying.
